Our philosophy

notAbrand is based upon the philosophy of Fair Market. This philosophy is apparent in all the ways we conduct our business – from our global outlook to the terms for shop-owners and safe transactions for our buyers.  We believe in transparency, safe e-trading, openness, direct contact between manufacturer and consumer - and in equal preconditions. These are, in other words, the corner stones and guiding principles on which notAbrand is build and managed.

 

Why we care

We care about fair market because we believe that it is always possible to conduct a fair trade. And because we believe that Fair Market is also good business. Because notAbrand operates on principles of openness and transparency, we promise you can always be sure of either receiving your goods or having your payment refunded – wherever in the world you are shopping. And we always keep our promises.

 

Furthermore, the fact that shop-owners only pays a fee to notAbrand once a product has been sold, keeps us on our feet. It’s a simple equation of cause and effect: the more success our shop-owners have, the more success we have. This means that we work very hard with promoting our shop-owners.

 

Why it works

When we speak of, and comply with, the principles of Fair Market, we take the concept of a fair trade to the next level. And that’s good business. The principles of Fair Market entail that all shop-owners are presented in an equal fashion – you simply cannot buy a top-rating or pay to get your shop highlighted on notAbrand. This means that it is the product, and only the product, which is in focus. On notAbrand, the consumer is allowed direct contact with the artist or designer behind the singular shop – there are no gallery-owners, art-handlers or design-agents taking their percentage of the products before they reach the consumer.  

 

How it works

The principles upon which notAbrand is run ensure that an artist, designer or creative soul can open a web-shop risk-free. All you need is: five or more products to display in your shop, internet access, a digital camera (or access to one), the ability to write your artist statement and product descriptions in English - and a bank account. To open a shop you must be the producer of the products you plan to sell, so that notAbrand can accordingly ensure a direct contact between the designer or artist and the consumer.

 

Fair Market means a safe trade

NotABrand ensures safe trading for buyers as well as sellers (shop owners). When you order and pay for a product in a NotABrand shop, the following happens:

 

    1. Your payment is transferred to notAbrand via eg. PayPal, Visa, or MasterCard

 

    2. The seller is informed of the sale and dispatches the product to you using a track & trace postal service

 

    3. NotAbrand monitors the dispatch via a track & trace postal service, and transfers the payment to the seller 14 days after you have received the product, and your right of return the item has elapsed

 

    4. If you return the product within 14 days, notAbrand refunds your payment as soon as the product is returned to the seller

 

With notAbrand, you can always be sure of either receiving your goods or having your payment refunded – wherever in the world you are shopping.
